Invitation to Canvey Island Armed Forces Day

Canvey Island Town Council is organising its’ annual Canvey Island Armed Forces Day on Saturday, 28th June to celebrate the contribution of the armed forces in the community.

The parade will start from Castle View School’s car park, Foksville Road from 10.30am and will march through the town centre on Furtherwick Road down to Long Road to the Paddocks Community Centre. The parade will include representatives from veteran groups and individuals, the Sutherland Pipes and Drums, current serving members of the armed forces, local scouts, girl guides, army cadets, youth groups and the emergency services.

A speech of celebration will be held at 11am outside at the Paddocks War Memorial which will be led by The Ministers of the Churches of Canvey Island and supported by Canvey Community Choir, followed by a wartime exhibition in the Paddocks.

There will be free hand held flags given out on the day.

There will be a temporary rolling road closure on the parade route from 10.30am to 11am on the Saturday, 28th June in the town centre.
